Initially, Matshift will only support the design of cold-formed steel framing as this method is particularly popular for its simplicity and price but lacks a modern software suite. Overtime, Matshift will support the design of other materials including hot-rolled steel, concrete, strawbale and compressed earth.

Prefabricated light-gauge steel framing lacks a leading universal software solution. Without naming names, here are some of the most common complaints about various programs in the field:

Matshift is being developed on the back of real structural drafting experience, that understands not only what users want but what the other programs sorely miss. More information will be available regularly on the development blog.

Initial versions of the software will have minimal features. What features get added to the program will be determined by importance, ease of creation and customer requests. Updates will be extremely frequent to allow for a fast rollout of new features and quick user feedback.

That said, Matshift is intent on being feature-rich and comprehensive.
